Ask A Dentist

Ask A DentistCan you ask a dentist to save your wisdom teeth after they are extracted?

I'll get my wisdom teeth extracted. The wiki article says that you must save your wisdom teeth, because it contains stem cells. I suppose you can help with diseases later, but it seems science fiction yet. But I've never heard of a dentist before. Can you ask them to put your teeth? If yes, it costs extra money, and is it worth doing?

I had 3 wisdom teeth in December and they asked me if I wanted to keep before I left and I said yes. So I have now.

Of course you can and it does not cost more to save them for you.

They will allow you to be free. I do not see the point myself.

Yes you can, and does not cost more. I have my wisdom teeth a week ago, but I forgot to tell them to save them before I put to sleep.

Dentists can not give you your teeth once they are extracted. Once they are out, they become medical waste and must be disposed of properly. I did not write the laws, but that's it. No dentist is going to risk their license because some article says that there are stem cells in them. That being said, I always offer to give teeth to the children so that the tooth fairy can visit .....

I'm not sure Dr. Miller knows what he's talking in all areas of the United States. I have all my four wisdom teeth in my hot little hand right now. Maybe the laws vary state by state? My oral surgeon asked me if I wanted to keep my wisdom teeth, and he gave me all of them intact.
