Awww ... I made a cake for my son Baby Einstein 1st ... very cute and everyone loved it. Great choice!
I used Wilton Soccer Cake pans and does not tie the two sides, just use them as a half-round. I also used Wilton icing color concentrated as they are much more vibrant colors than the regular food coloring. I know some people do not like the food color additives, so it's a very personal choice, but I thought for a few bites of my son would eat it was OK. I have pots and staining craft store Michael. You can also buy online on the website of Wilton.
I tried to upload a photo so I hope the link works. Congratulations on doing so through your first year!

Well, the first wise decision to make a cake in good health. frosting cream cheese is good, but I think you should do yourself the icing. It is delicious and Healthier than what you buy at the store. Food coloring is fine as long as it's not a lot just enough to put the icing color but not in the dark.
With regard to supplies that you could find a store party in the directory or go to a Wal-Mart. In addition, you should ask around. You'd be surprised how many people know about great places!
Give your baby the best birthday ever! :)
For the first anniversary of my son, I am a sponge cake with strawberries and whipped cream. I am a lion cake, so I'll have to use food dye. It is not healthy, but it does not eat that much anyway. I saw some food coloring in organic whole foods, so I'll probably use these.
