Baby Pups

Baby PupsWhat the farmer are other methods of keeping their young babies warm?

Even if I'm on a role in this whole "What other breeders do" thing, what are some of your methods of keeping you warm puppies baby? I used to use a heat lamp, but I find it difficult to control the temperature and I was always afraid it overheating. That fellow friend and respected breeder of feeding one's bearings and fell into the pen and burned whelpng two puppies. They lived, but he has some scars. I have an incubator-type thing, but they are only there when a mother is elsewhere (or be fed or cared for outside). Thank you!

I used large empty soda bottles filled with hot water wrapped in towels and placed in small until the mother returned.
Done a great job for me!

hot water bottles with blankets / towels on them. or use a heat lamp. is what I use

The breeder of my Great Dane is a heating pad (strings well hidden, of course) under a blanket to help keep little warm. It simply points to a medium setting and checking it every hour to ensure it is not too hot.

We have been in the breeding Yorkshire Terrier puppies over 5 years now. Puppies do not produce their own heat until the third day. We use a good electric blanket brand available at Wal-Mart, Target, King rural, etc. .. The coverage parameters 0-10. O is off and 10 being the hottest. We use below their coverage to a value of 2 in the day and 3 night. The third day we turn down to 1 to help maintain the rest of the week. Hope this helps!

I use 2 liter bottles filled with warm water and wrapped in a towel .. I find heat lamps and electrical appliances are too dry / dehydrated

heat lamps, firmly attached seems to be good. In addition, a newspaper-lined box in a farrowing room with no air current. Although packed with hot water bottles are great, but I had a dog once who really hated the sight of bottles of hot water, and we think it's because she was burned as a puppy.

Hot water bottles wrapped in soft towels.
