Brats Makeover

Brats MakeoverYour site will become a spoiled child?

OK, I have no children, but I know a spoiled child when I see one. And I just ran across a cool quiz: Your child is a spoiled child?

Some characteristics of spoiled children:

* Frequent temper tantrums
* Do not understand the needs vs. wants
* Doe what he wants - not what others want
* Demand to have all the latest new toy
* You are reluctant to show it, because it will not make a big impression
* Scaring the visitors
* Try to take control instead of doing what you want

Why care of parents when their children are spoiled brats? Because spoiled children are no fun to have around. They drive away the people that interest you most. They embarrass you in public, especially when it is most important for you to make a good impression.

When we substitute "website" for "children", can you detect the similarities? Features of Web sites zero:

- They are filled with "good to have toys: flash, animation, and things that buzz, purr and coo. They have a lot of new gadgets and they always want more.

- They want to stay on the sidelines and enjoy the compliments. They will not get the products into their hands dirty and selling services.

- They embarrass their owners (who created the site needs a makeover, but they are afraid to ask). They control you ("I can not change what I propose - it does not follow the theme of the site").

- They disappear from time to time (because their owners are locked in a cloth of 2 years hosting agreement for a free design and hosting company is not the most reliable). Thus, they get a reputation for being temperamental.

What embarrassment websites and children have in common is: someone decided that throwing money at a problem would be more logical than delve into what actually happens. Thus, a troubled child is treated, toys and even cars. Marketing concept difficulty is buried under a four-digit graphic display that strikes your socks off.

The solution is the same for children and websites. Back to basics. Set limits. Identify objectives. What would be a reasonable expectation of today? Next week? Next year?

And how your website to do some work around the house. Are you attract customers? Screening clients? The collection of money? Save time?

For example, an experienced editor will create a site that motivates customers to get involved at the earliest. You might even be able to skip the obligation "to learn" call.
