Children's DollsThe girls and their dolls

I had people tell me ... little girls play with dolls, no more. My answer ... Have you encouraged or played with it?

I know that growing up, that dolls played a very important role in my life. Our family struggling to make ends meet, and our toys have been precious and rare. So darling, in fact, that the dolls I had as a child, are still my treasured possessions today. I have saved from the toy box for my two younger sisters have also had their turn with them!

My dolls were babies when we played the pioneers, with a cart and the trunk. They were my models the patient's clothes, when I started learning the art of sewing, and they put up with countless terribly designed and sewn together. They were my comfort on cold winter nights.
My sisters and I were playing with our dolls and precious much longer than most young girls seem to today.

Paper dolls were another big part of our creative childhood. Some magazines of the era such as McCalls came out with a sheet of paper dolls each month. We had a neighbor who subscribed to McCalls and saved the paper doll sheets for us. Betsy McCall and his friends have been highly anticipated on a monthly basis! Carefully cut out the dolls glued to the back of cereal boxes and cut, they have done fantastic game. Looking at the complex art sets that are presented to children today, it is difficult for me to imagine that they really stimulate creativity any more than is our own imagination.

Doll houses played an important role in the development of our creativity. As we could only dream of owning a store bought doll house and furniture, we have stated repeatedly diligently to create our own doll houses out of materials that came into his hand. A large cardboard box into infinite possibilities.
Items such as paper rolls, empty matchbooks, bottle caps, to name but a few became pieces of furniture, dishes and much more. Attention research through the Eaton's and Sears as well as weekly sales flyers also produced a multitude of accessories. Pictures of food flyers glued to cardboard, were used to fill the kitchen cabinets, cut and paste on cardboard became family doll house. My sisters and I enjoyed countless hours of creative fun with these simple materials.

I recently read an article that suggested little girls are tiring of dolls as young as 6 years. What they play with then, who can develop their imagination, creativity and maternal instinct.

I hope parents everywhere will realize the value in simple, uncomplicated toys for their children. A doll house, with a family of doll furniture, accessories and can provide countless hours of fun decorating and imagination, the rooms are changed and rearranged. Not only is the imagination developed, but also the fine motor skills are honed as children learn to manipulate miniature items.

I can not help thinking that a girl who cares for changes to bed and adores a favorite doll, learn valuable maternal instinct that will stay with her in her adult life.
