How-to build a rectangular terrace
STEP 1 - Place the two closest corner Dek-Block ® piers at home.
Set them directly on the ground. If the ground is sloped, remove some top soil directly under the
block until the block is level. The blocks should be as close to home as possible. Check the
the distance between the blocks by referencing the dimensions on the plan. The outer edge of the
Platinum finish extending from the center of the Dek-Block ® cells by 13 1 / 2 "on both sides.

There is no such thing as a perfectly level yard. I receive many calls and emails from people who try not to use 4x4 posts. The
best advice I can give anyone to build a rectangular terrace is to use 4x4 posts, even if you have only a very slight slope of the
court. Upgrade all blocks to each other is very difficult and takes time. If you need a 2-1/4 "4x4 post, make the cut. It
takes about 90 seconds to measure and cut, and the post weighs only a few pounds. Moving a block up or down to an exact
measure takes 4-10 minutes per block. Remember, these blocks are 42 lbs you work with. Save your back
on the cooler on the deck when you're done.
Do not spend an excessive
time to upgrade the dek-
Battery pack ®. The block does
not need to be perfect. The
block can be upgraded with only
eye. If the block appears to level
move forward with a level framing

Step 2 - Level the support board.
Find the highest corner Dek-Block ® pier. Position 2 "x6 help forum" in or above this first block of
the desired height. If the entire bridge will be high, you will need to have a 4 "x4" in the first post
block.
If the whole bridge is high, you will find the height of the first 4 "x4" post to determine your
starting point. First, determine your reference point for the top of the deck surface. This may
threshold of a door or a point on the siding. Mark a level line at this point that lasted almost the first
block. From this line, to maintain a level on the block and measure the base level
pocket block. From this measure, subtract the thickness of the plate surface and the
thickness of the backboard (1 1 / 2 "+ 5 1 / 2" = 7 "). Cut the first 4" x4 "post on this and

If the bridge is placed next to a door, the bridge should be between 1 / 2 "and 1" below the threshold of the door. Or if you want a step
to the door, the bridge should be between 6 "-7" below the door. You do not need anything between 1 "-6" because it will create a
tripping hazard.
Place a 2 "x6 help forum" in the
slot of the Dek-Block ® pier or
the 4 "x4" post and extend the
second corner Dek-Block ® pier.
Now, with a level above the
2 "x6" support board, measure
distance from the bottom of the
2 "x6 help forum at the bottom
the pocket in the Dek-Block ®
Pier. Next cut a 4 "x4" post
length and position of the 2 "x6"
