The Mirror - Who Are You - Really? - To See Who You Really Are A year ago, I went to the Alamo, a historic site in San Antonio, where a major battle was fought during the war for Texas independence. I know this because I am a history teacher, and I actually teach my students about this tragic battle. So I really enjoyed your visit to this historic monument. My wife, however, does not really have too, so after about an hour, we went to get something to eat.
As we crossed the street, I saw something that attracted my attention. Outside one of the many gift shops, I noticed a large mirror. I decided to investigate. As I walked over, I saw that it was one of those mirrors "fun house" that distort the reflection of the person looking into it.
I went and stood before the mirror and instead of seeing the tall thin man I used to see in the mirror, I saw a little man back off on me. For a moment, I confess, I was a little scared - until I realized that the person in the mirror was not the real me. It was an image that had been distorted by the mirror twisted.
I left thinking of how I was glad I was not the man in the mirror. Unfortunately, there are many people who are looking in a mirror that has been distorted by negative thoughts or words or past experiences. They see themselves as failures or victims based on what happened in their past or what people said about them. Their mirror was distorted, and they go through life depressed and never reach their full potential because they believe the image in the mirror twisted.
If this describes you, I want to encourage you to see who you really are. See yourself as a person who has talent and unique abilities. Consider all your achievements, your successes, all of your positive contributions, and it is your mirror. You're not the person in the mirror "fun house. See yourself as you really are - amazing.
