Infantile eczema is common among infants less than 5 years. In rare cases, this disorder can be observed in infants two to six months of age. Babies with sensitive skin or even dry skin are more prone to this disorder. The outermost layer of skin that protects us is sensitive to that condition or moments of this layer is lost.

Infant eczema needs continuous extra care as infants have the habit of scratching thus irritating the affected area. If the child continues to scratch, the disorder may get elevated causing serious problems. Scratching can break the skin making a way for other skin infections into the body. Infant eczema needs care first and it must be reported to the doctor as soon as possible.

The common and major symptoms of childhood eczema are flaked skin, rashes and itching. The most effective and common treatment of eczema is the topical steroid ointment that is prescribed as an effective cure against itching and inflammation. These ointments are available in different powers or strengths and are suitable for short term use, but under medical supervision.

The medical treatment varies with the intensity of disease and age of children. It is recommended that infants over the age of three months use the steroid free cream regularly to prevent any further development of this disease. All medical treatment must be started under the proper guidance and supervision of the physician.

Babies are more likely to sleep and are constantly abandoned picky about skin itching. To calm the children in these challenging conditions can be a difficult task. Slowly applying slight moisture on the affected areas may be the child feels relaxed and calm. Taking precautions is always better to wait until the disease cured.

Use mild baby soap and cloth to clean the infant is always better than using ordinary soaps. Giving a bath of warm water for your baby instead of a bath of hot water as hot water can dry the skin further. Pat the skin dry with a dry towel instead of rubbing it harshly. Use pure cotton clothes for the baby instead of all synthetic fabrics. Make sure the bedding used for infants is 100% cotton. Do not cover the child with a blanket or any synthetic carpet. Keep the room temperature normal infants. Keep children away from hot to extreme temperatures. Avoid keeping pets in the house and if you have a pet avoid up on beds and furniture.

Cover the child's hands with socks or mittens during the night, to avoid scratching during sleep. Keep nails clean and short children. Do not apply any type of talcum powder as it may dry the skin. Keep the skin moist by applying mild moisturizers after their baths and whenever necessary. Use a mild detergent to wash clothes in your child. Take action on security awareness of your baby will certainly help make his life in good health.
