educational resources how to teach math? I'm considering algebra teaching position at a community college, but my education does not include training. Do you know some good books, websites, or other resources that give suggestions on teaching methods, developing the lesson plan, control, and the ranking? I came across the book "How to teach math ".... This is a good resource?
Adult education is a specialty of its own. Contact the college itself ... there may be someone already on staff who can help you with this ... how to teach adults is just as important as knowing math and how to teach in particular. Certainly, the college you plan already has an existing program and resources ... and other agents that can help you learn to teach adults.
There are adult programs can graduate education for college instructors (eg, all instructors need this certification to teach where I am ... the west coast of Canada) and there are all sorts of resources adult education in particular, and resources specifically for that age and level of the student.
Start with the NCTM and college educators with your unions and associations ... I'm sure they can steer you in the right direction.
You really do not need training to teach in college. I teach math and college algebra in a community college. In college, you have the adults and they can not be treated like children. Just teach them the skills for the day, make sure they know how to do it, and then the top class. It is very easy. I was scared at first b / c I've never worked with adults.
