Kids toys-Ban Chinese history Government of India has banned the import of "toys" of China listed in SIC codes 9501, 9502, 9503 Schedule - I of ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import. The ban came with effect from 23 January 2009 and remain in force for six months. Prohibition includes toys from China following:
9501 Wheeled toys designed to be ridden by children (for example, tricycles, scooters, pedal cars); cars dolls
9502 Dolls representing only human beings
9503 Other toys; reduced size ("scale") models and similar recreational models, working or not; puzzles of all kinds
Although DGFT Notification No. 82 / (RE-2008) / 2004-2009 dated January 23, 2009 that "the importation of toys are banned, the ban covers all products falling within CN codes 9501, 9502, 9503, even parts of these toys are covered by the ban. The apparent reason for the ban on imports of Chinese toys is concerned about the safety of children. It is believed that Chinese toys containing high levels of toxicity to the pest health of a child. High levels of lead in children's bodies can cause physical illnesses, including diarrhea and nausea, and can also have the intellectual development of children and endanger their IQ level. The DEHP, DBP and BBP, commonly added to plastic products to make them soft and flexible, found in soft plastic toys can cause serious long-term side effects, such as hormonal dysfunction and reproductive disorders. CPC and other hazardous chemicals used in doll dress are probably carcinogenic. It is also alleged that the Chinese toys have small parts in bulk, which can break off the toys while playing and can be a health hazard in case of ingestion by children.
In recent months, Chinese toys have created a fear for reasons above and led to recall lots of toys. Mattel has recalled "Sarge" vehicles, products Dora Explorer, ungainly dolls Big Bird Sesame Street and nearly one million other toys from his Line Price Fisher and Nickelodeon characters, all made in China. RC2 Thomas & Friends wooden railway line toys were recalled. In January 2009, DDI Inc., Iowa, USA has recalled packages of toy construction sets and Fanta-Eyes Inc., New York, USA has recalled kits high school musical manicure all made because of Lead containment of China. A complete list of Chinese toys recalled in recent months in the United States can be found @ http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html . I
t is very disturbing to know that our children play with life-threatening Chinese toys, and it seems that the government has done a commendable job. U.S. and European countries have taken the lead in the recalling Chinese-made toys, and India, a latecomer joined the movement by banning the import. Many countries in the world standards of quality toys and children's products. Most of these seek to limit potential hazards, such as choking or fire hazards that can cause injury. Children, especially small ones, often put toys in their mouth, so that the material used to make a toy are regulated to prevent poisoning. Materials are also regulated to prevent fire hazards. The children have not yet learned to judge what is safe and what is dangerous, and parents do not always think of every possible situation, if these warnings are important and regulations on toys.
Currently, India has no standards of quality toys. There are reports in the media that the government is working to quality standards for toys and within six months we have our own standard. Until now, our children are deprived of the pleasure of toys. I think you know everything that I said that you can be as a result of the frenzy.
