Story Starters Middle School

Story Starters Middle SchoolThe story of an entrepreneur wannabe

I remember like it was yesterday. I was 19, and a friend invited me to an Amway meeting.

I had no idea what I was going, but he looked like an opportunity of a life if I went in Marina Del Ray, California to see the "Big Show", and discover what all the excitement was about.

I remember this type in the words of his early 50s standing on stage with all these products, and a blackboard.

He spoke of the wonderful range of products, one being a cleaner that could clean anything from your rugs to kitchen sink!

Then I watched him talk about the opportunity behind these products, and I thought: this is my ticket to financial freedom!

Ok, finally finished with the crowd brutally beating, and to say that we should discuss this "once in a lifetime" opportunity with the person who has given us.

I left the building with all kinds of possibilities swirl in my head, but I was more realistic than most, because I knew how the marketing of any product or service can be.

Remember, I grew up making extra money for summer school and going door to door "(hitting over 150 houses per day) lead generation company for home improvement, so I knew it was not an easy task to get people to take a decision and say "YES" to your offer.

I am so happy that I finally ran a team for this company.

Anyway ... I thought about the incredible leverage time, money and people to generate a genuine "walk" on income.

I thought ... "I'm on my way!"

My friend and me, plus the person who called the meeting went to a restaurant opportunity to discuss our future with the company.

companion of my friend we sat down and "wined and dined" we, so to say (I think it was a Dennys restaurant where alcohol is served, if we were sure). He began to wonder about our dreams and what we wanted to do three to five years from now.

We had a brief discussion, and after we ate, we were off for our cars. Just as we were leaving, the guy who invited us to dinner we were asked to join the opportunity right away and there!

I do not know what to say. I had no money on me, and when I did not even have a credit card.

I said that I think about it, but my boyfriend and his friend bought a starter kit (I think it was around $ 90.00 at the time) right on the spot!

I was not sure what just happened, but we drove to the San Fernando Valley (north of Los Angeles) all I could hear was my friend and his friend talk about how they would sitting pretty in three to five years, and they wondered if I would join them.

I said, I'll talk to my father, and I think he will lend me money to start.

They said a lot, and we were happy on the way home.

REALITY STRIKES

The next day I talked to my father to have the opportunity, and let him know that I needed $ 90.00 to start - I wanted in.

He said he did not think it would be a good idea. I asked him why. He said he was not a legitimate company, and I lose my time and money. I was sad, and that's all ...

I followed the progress of my friend in the company and asked him how he was doing?

It was a week after the meeting, and he had not even opened the $ 90.00 "Business in a box 'yet!

I asked him, why? He said he would move it.

Another week passes and I ask again how the business going, and he asked me if I wanted to box, because he was not more interested.

I just looked surprised and said, "No Thanks."

I went ...
