Surviving education supply with babies Being a teacher in England is increasingly difficult with many teachers now opting for the teaching of the offer as a way of "having a life."
While education offers means you can enjoy your evenings and weekends free of marking and planning - it is not without drawbacks. Here are some ways to survive on the offer.
Arrive early
Always remember that the class that you teach that day is not your class. You must follow the rules and routines already established by the teacher, regardless of their size. A teacher should be able to leave the classroom knowing the rules and routines will be carried on in their absence. Of course, there will be the strange child who play up "and enjoy, but these are easily identified and treated.
Some schools have records for teachers of the school food containing valuable information and class. It is worth arriving early to read this information. You need to know about special needs children in your class, including the medical and behavioral problems and how they are processed normally.
You'll need to know about "rewards and sanctions" and make sure you actually use. Directed special stickers or stamps can be very useful as children love these instant rewards - a bag of delicious candy is also helpful, but be aware of nut allergies, etc.
Planning
If a teacher has left the planning - that is fine. Again, it's worth arriving early to read and digest. Sometimes, the planning of other teachers is difficult to interpret and you might need to find resources, a difficult task when you do not know where to look and everyone is very busy. There are times when you will just have to improvise so be prepared for it.
Lessons
If there is no plan available for you it is worth to have a few ideas for lessons that are written self-limiting and do not require differentiation. To calculate a lesson you can simply ask children to find ways of 5, 10 or 20, 50 and so on according to age groups. Literacy you could ask children to make their own books with folded paper, using one of your favorite stories as a stimulus. Having a few sheets of good quality at hand is always a useful standby.
TAs
If you're lucky, you can have a teaching assistant to work in your classroom. You will find the support teacher will be familiar with children and be very helpful to talk to them. Many teachers supply can feel shaken, facing a teaching assistant useless. Remember at the end of the day it is you who are responsible for the care and safety of children in your class.
Marking
teachers often ask about the supply of child labor marking. If possible, children mark their own work. As the work of Mark - this will save time at the end of the
day. Use the marking policy in place.
Staffroom
Many supply teachers say they do not go to the staffroom at all. Some staff rooms are friendlier than others, but do not take it too personally if you are ignored - most teachers are preoccupied with work and some school staff rooms are just not very welcoming. One of the advantages of education supply, is that you do not have to go back to school you do not like.
Many spend their breaks supplies marking.
The fresh air you can feel refreshed for the session of the afternoon.
Stay after school
Some supply teachers were seen scrambling over the children out of school! Aim to spend some time after school to complete the marking and making sure the classroom is in order. It is useful to leave a note to the teacher to tell them of any incident. It is always nice for teachers to be informed if their class has a good behavior in their absence.
New teachers
education supply is an excellent way to win.
