Motorcycle History The history of the motorcycle goes back over 100 years, when an American was a steam engine that would be small enough to fit on his bike. Howard Roper of Roxbury, Massachusetts, tired of pedaling a bicycle over long distances. months after and months to draw diagrams and thinking how he could make a steam engine that would be small enough to relieve pressure on his legs and feet as he was moving from one place to dirt on roads and paths. Finally in 1867, Roper succeeded, it was fueled by burning coal to create steam. This bike has been displayed in many fairs and circuses over the years.
In 1885, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach (later the founders of the Mercedes, the forerunner of the Mercedes Benz), produced the first petroleum powered motor bicycle. However, until 1894 was a motor vehicle with two wheels (Hildebrand & Wolfmuller) is available for the transportation market.
As engines became too powerful for any bicycle, and the designs changed very quickly, the largest manufacturer of motorcycles (the Indian brand), had already produced well over 20,000 motorcycles a year until the First World War
In the 1920s, Harley Davidson took this away from the East India Company as the Harley Davidson Company had acquired many dealers in less than 67 countries worldwide. At the end of World War II, BSA bikes took the title away from Harley Davidson, and until 1950 produced 75,000 bikes a year.
During the 1990s, there has been significant work on both engines bike race because of the work of Walter Kaaden in the 50s in East Germany.
Although Harley Davidson is still leading the bike manufacturer for the motorcycle market, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki are also very well with their developments of a motorcycle drive sustainable research and elegant.
Motorcycles have even gone into track racing and dirt bike racing cross country. Several world records have been made on the bikes and some bike names have ended up in the Guinness Book of World Records. Motorcycles have a place in some of the Olympic Games that the progress and changes have been modified to the extent of taking parts of the bike home to make it lighter.
Motorcycles have jumped many cars, trucks, and even the Grand Canyon. Today, the riders are back flip, is the hand, and various other daredevil stunts.
Looking through eBay, you will find lots of different motorcycles former executives of the old India of the Harley Davidson 1983 Wide Glide, a Triumph TR6 Trophy, and Suzuki DRZ 2003 and DRZ 250. Some of these bikes were chrome and restored to a beautiful luster.
There is no better feeling than rolling on the road and be able to feel the wind on your face and the freedom you feel when you're on a motorcycle. The bikes are now becoming more popular due to the fuel crisis in the world. With the smaller engine and less fuel consumption, motorcycles may be the next thing we see for commuters.
