Toddler Play Table

On Sims 2, there are those little table which will allow four young children to play with him at once. They can draw or play with blocks. When a child is using them and a parent I try to bring a bottle or put in a highchair, the action drops coming out of the queue almost immediately. It's bugging me. I tried this without my game files (I have a lot of custom content) and the problem persists. Is this normal?
