Wooden Blocks

I want to do ABC wooden blocks for my little son, but not sure of something blocks have six sides so, how do I do and what is the sequence for them are they random or is it a model overall and for blocks of numbers to help him learn

I would put a letter on one side, a number instead, and maybe a picture on the animal side thats name starts with the letter on the block
